Castle Nuts
Castle nuts, or castellated nuts, are used with locking pins to prevent loosening. Named after their castle-like appearance, these nuts have notches on one end. These slots ensure the nuts remain securely fastened when used together with cotter pins. If the nut begins to spin, the notches prevent it from unwinding completely, so it is reinforced for stability. They are commonly used for low-torque applications where visibility of the nut is necessary. Priority Products offers castle nuts with thread sizes including 1/2", 9/16”, 3/4”, and 7/8”, with various threading available to suit your individual needs.
